Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang Province Do Minh Nhut said that through the implementation of this modelin accordance with the VietGAP standards, many enterprises have signed production and consumption contracts with local farmers, establishing a closer relationship between production, processing and consumption while creating a stable and high-quality raw material area for export.

The rice production under large-scale rice fields is mostly carried out by agricultural cooperatives in key rice hubs, Nhut noted.

It has been proven that the implementation of the large-scale rice field model has contributed to stabilising and promoting production while increasing income for rice growers.

In addition, the linkage between production and consumption of agricultural products has been gradually developed and duplicated, helping to solve the problems of producers and lower prices amid bumper harvests.

In the winter-spring crop 2020-2021, Kien Giang Province will continue to create favourable conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to establish high-quality concentrated rice cultivation areas under large-scale rice field models, particularly in two key rice farming areas of Long Xuyen Quadrangle and the west of the Hau River.
