On November 17, former President Truong Tan Sang and representatives from several domestic corporations and enterprises visited and presented gifts to local people in floodplain areas in Ha Tinh Province.
In Cam Xuyen District’s communes of Cam Thach, Cam Thanh and Cam Due, the former president expressed his sympathy for the losses of Ha Tinh people in the recent floods and disasters, wishing them to strive in their efforts to overcome difficulties and soon stabilise their lives and restore production.
On the occasion, Sang and his delegation surveyed several locations and critical areas in order to formulate plans to support local people in building flood-resistant houses.
A volunteer group from Nhan Dan Newspaper and donors has set out to give gifts to local people in floodplain areas in Ha Tinh in mid-November. Two weeks since a fund raising campaign was launched by reporters from Nhan Dan Newspaper, donors has raised nearly VND1.1 billion in cash and others essentials to send to flood victims in the central region.

On November 17, a delegation from the Ministry of Public Security presented VND1.5 billion donated from the force to Quang Nam Province to support the locality in its post-disaster recovery.
On the same day, the Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam Province announced that it had received VND500 million from the Quang Nam Compatriots’ Liaison Committee in Hanoi and many valuable goods to help local people overcome the consequences of the recent floods.
Through the Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Binh Province, 213 agencies, units, localities, businesses and donors have donated money and goods to help the locality overcome the consequences of floods with a total value more than VND78.5 billion. Of that figure, the front has supported 101 families whose houses have collapsed with VND40 million each, as well as giving gifts and supports to local victims and ethnic minorities.

To date, Quang Tri Province has received more than 520 relief teams with a total value of about VND80 billion, of which essential goods worth about VND10 billion.
As of November 17, the Ho Chi Minh City's Fatherland Front Committee has received financial donation and goods to support disaster victims in the Central and Central Highlands worth nearly VND92 billion in cash and over VND 7.2 billion worth in goods. The Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front has sent five missions to give gifts to locals in the two regions.
In the face of serious damage caused by storms and landslides in the central provinces, AEON Vietnam and AEON 1% Club Foundation have awarded an emergency donation gift package including VND1.6 billion in cash and other necessities to flood victims.
According to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Response, from the beginning of 2020, natural disasters have progressed abnormally and complicatedly in many regions across the country, with 16 forms of natural disasters recorded, including 13 storms, 114 floods, flash floods and landslides, and 86 earthquakes, killing 280 and leaving 66 others missing. Heavy rains, flash floods and landslides also caused over 800,000 houses to collapse, suffer damage, or be flooded. The total loss is estimated at about VND29.8 trillion (US$1.2 billion).
