On the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944-2020) and the 31st Whole-People Defence Festival (December 22, 1989-2020), the top legislator extended her regards and greetings to the officers, officials, soldiers, employees and armed forces of Military Zone 5.

She noted that Military Zone 5 has completed all missions assigned to it, particularly in training and combat readiness, contributed significantly to national construction and protection, and proven its core role in natural disaster response and addressing the aftermath, as well as in the fight against COVID-19.

Highlighting the difficulties and challenges in the time ahead, the NA leader asked the military zone to comprehensively strengthen its forces and pay due regard to political education for its personnel.

Military Zone 5 needs to enhance the protection of internal politics; proactively combat incorrect views and perceptions; maintain the Party’s ideological foundation in its armed forces to contribute to neutralising “peaceful evolution” plot by hostile forces; and to offer prompt advice to localities and sectors in addressing complex issues, she stated.

NA Chairwoman Ngan underlined the significance of close coordination between the military zone and local Party Committees and authorities in consolidating national defence, particularly at sea, on islands, and in border areas.

She urged Military Zone 5 to focus on building a pure, strong and exemplary Party organisation, as well as sustaining the principle of democratic centralism, effectively implementing criticism and self-criticism, and reinforcing internal solidarity and consistency.

The top legislator also asked the military zone to properly implement mass mobilisation, participate in poverty reduction with practical and effective methods, and further develop local economic-defence zones.
