During the execution of their missions, the unit’s ships actively coordinate with the Coast Guard, Border Guard, and coastal local authorities to communicate and encourage fishermen to strictly comply with Vietnamese and international laws on fisheries exploitation. They are resolute in preventing violations in foreign waters and in combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.

Apart from patrol and control operations, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 regularly conduct mobile communication campaigns, distribute leaflets, and deliver letters from the People’s Committees of coastal provinces. They guide fishermen on how to record fishing logs, operate vessel monitoring systems (VMS), and encourage them to participate in monitoring, detecting, and reporting IUU violations.
