The VPIM 2023 featured four categories: a full marathon of 42.2km, a half-marathon of 21.1km, as well as 10km and five km races.
All competitors departed from the pedestrian street around the Ho Guom (Sword Lake). True to its theme ‘Hanoi Vibes’, the race allowed participants to run along more than 30 iconic tourist destinations in the capital city.
The VPIM 2023 track was designed to meet international criteria set by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
In particular, the 42km route of VPIM 2023 is the first of its kind in Hanoi, to run along the three most unique bridges in the capital, including the Nhat Tan, Dong Tru, and Long Bien bridges.
A total of 115 prizes worth up to 2 billion VND, including nearly 800 million VND in cash, will be awarded to the winners of the competition.
Within the framework of the VPIM 2023, a Mastercard Kids Run was held for the first time, on October 7, attracting around 500 children aged from 5 to 10.
The non-profit VPIM, which is sponsored by the Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), is among the activities to mark Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10).
It also aims to promote the land, people, and culture of Hanoi, to visitors at home and abroad.
All revenue from the VPIM will be used to improve the race’s quality to bring about the best experience for athletes and also contribute to charitable activities.
