Nguyen Duc Canh award winners honoured

Nhan Dan - The second Nguyen Duc Canh Awards 2013 were presented to 139 outstanding workers and public servants at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 17, in recogntion their contributions to national socio-economic development.

The award winners included workers, engineers, and individuals from state-owned and private enterprises, as well as foreign-invested businesses, military enterprises and research institutes. They have promoted a total of 697 initiatives that have earned nearly VND108 billion in profits. Ninety five of these individuals were awarded Creative Labor Certificates by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL).

The Nguyen Duc Canh awards were established by the VGCL and are held every five years, aiming to honour workers who gain outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements.

On the same day, the award winners were also received by Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Secretariat, Le Hong Anh.

Politburo member Anh spoke highly of the VGCL’s initiative to organise the awards in the name of Nguyen Duc Canh, a patriotic Vietnamese revolutionary activist and an exemplary leader of the Vietnamese working class.
