Ahead of this major national event, Pham Thi Minh Huong, member of the Standing Committee of the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos, Vice President of the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese, and Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Gold Phuc Company, shared that as a Vietnamese living and working abroad, she always closely follows important political developments, the country’s progress, and major policy decisions of the Party and the State.
The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term takes place shortly after the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. Therefore, it is not only a nationwide celebration but also a significant milestone affirming the strength of national solidarity and the stability of Viet Nam’s political system in the new era.
“I follow this election with great excitement and strong confidence that selecting representatives who are truly dedicated and capable, and worthy of representing the will and aspirations of the people, will form the foundation for realising the strategic goals set by the Party and the State, building a strong, prosperous, civilised, and thriving Viet Nam,” Pham Thi Minh Huong shared.
Huong expressed her hope that the elected representatives will be individuals of courage, integrity, and competence, possessing innovative thinking and the determination to act decisively.
At a time when the country faces both new opportunities and challenges, she expects a team of representatives who clearly understand the honour and responsibility entrusted to them, remain wise, determined, and united, and always place national interests above all else in order to build a comprehensive legal system and make significant contributions to the process of national construction, protection, and development.

At the same time, she also hopes that the elected representatives will serve as an effective “bridge” connecting Viet Nam at home with the Vietnamese community abroad. She expects them to have a deep understanding of the potential of overseas Vietnamese so that they can propose breakthrough mechanisms and policies.
The goal, she said, is not merely to value the emotional attachment of overseas Vietnamese to their homeland, but to truly unlock and mobilise their intellectual resources, management experience, financial capacity, and technological expertise, transforming these assets into direct drivers of national development.
To further promote the role of overseas Vietnamese as an “extended arm” of the country, Huong believes that what matters most is not general calls for contribution, but more substantive mechanisms for connection and dialogue.
First, elected bodies could strengthen channels for engagement and specialised dialogue with overseas Vietnamese through both in-person and online forums. These platforms would allow overseas Vietnamese communities to raise practical concerns and contribute ideas to national development policies.
In addition, Huong believes that the National Assembly should introduce more flexible policies to attract overseas Vietnamese experts, scientists, and entrepreneurs to contribute to the country.
Building a sustainable ecosystem that connects overseas Vietnamese associations with domestic agencies and organisations is also crucial. When every Vietnamese living abroad feels welcomed and supported in contributing to the homeland, the vast resources of the overseas Vietnamese community will be more fully mobilised, contributing to the country’s development in the new stage.
