This is also one of the many activities within the framework of the international photography biennale Photo Hanoi ’25, jointly organised in November by the Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Viet Nam.
The exhibition serves as a fascinating encounter between three Swiss artists (Beat Streuli, Alfio Tommasini, Matthieu Gafsou) and three Vietnamese artists (Le Nguyen Duy Phuong, Tran Vinh Dat, Bach Nam Hai). It also originated from ideas developed following Le Nguyen Duy Phuong’s research trip on photography curation in Switzerland, sponsored by Pro Helvetia.
By combining photography with video and stillness with movement, the exhibition explores the relationship between space and time from multiple perspectives. These contrasting elements, when juxtaposed, reveal the fundamental cycle of life - birth, growth, work, and death - which remains consistent regardless of geographical boundaries.
Through the works of six photographers from Viet Nam and Switzerland, representing different generations and diverse techniques, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on our interconnectedness with time, space, and ourselves.
