A handover ceremony was held at Noi Bai International Airport on December 28 to receive a humanitarian aid shipment from the Polish Government, aimed at supporting disaster recovery efforts in Dak Lak Province.
Attending the ceremony were Mirosław Adamczyk, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Poland in Viet Nam; Rafael Jose De Bustamante Tello, Minister-Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to Viet Nam; and Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Head of the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under Viet Nam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
The seven-tonne aid package provided by the Polish Government includes essential items such as blankets, tents, buckets, basins and tubular elastic bandages. These supplies are of practical significance, helping to meet basic daily needs and support local people in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and stabilising their lives.
In recent years, the Government and people of Poland have consistently stood alongside Viet Nam during difficult periods caused by natural disasters and epidemics. Notably, during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Poland was among the first European Union countries to provide Viet Nam with nearly 1.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and more than eight tonnes of medical equipment, valued at approximately 3.6 million USD.
Emphasising the significance of Poland’s provision of seven tonnes of relief supplies to support disaster recovery efforts in Dak Lak Province, Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland, Ha Hoang Hai, affirmed that this act represents a noble gesture by the Polish Government and people, imbued with strong humanitarian spirit and demonstrating the faithful and enduring traditional friendship between the two nations and their peoples.
According to Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai, this gesture carries even deeper humanitarian meaning as 2025 marks the year when Viet Nam and Poland organise various activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (February 4, 1950 – 2025).
