The conference was chaired by Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies.
Presenting a report at the conference, Thai Thanh Quy, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Deputy Head of the Commission for Policies and Strategies, noted that during the first half of 2026, the Commission closely followed the leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat, while proactively implementing and largely completing the tasks set out in its work programme.
Notable achievements included six working sessions between Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and the Commission to review reports and provide guidance on major policy orientations for the country's socio-economic development in the coming period.
The Commission also submitted five policy proposals to the Politburo, two of which are being further refined for submission to the third Plenary Session of the 14th Party Central Committee. In addition, it provided comments on numerous important reports, policy proposals and draft documents before their submission to the Politburo and the Secretariat.
During the first six months of 2026, the Commission's Party Committee also effectively implemented its work programme and assigned tasks in a coordinated manner. It worked closely with the Commission's leadership to direct Party members and officials in fulfilling their political responsibilities, thereby contributing to the agency's overall achievements.
Addressing the conference, Politburo member Nguyen Thanh Nghi stressed that 2026 is a year of particular significance for Viet Nam and its political system. It marks the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the launch of the 2026–2030 Socio-Economic Development Strategy. The National Party Congress identified the country's entry into a new stage of development requiring major breakthroughs in institutions, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and high-quality human resource development, with a view to achieving the country's strategic goals by 2030 and its vision for 2045.
Against this backdrop, the Commission for Policies and Strategies has proactively and effectively coordinated with relevant agencies in carrying out its assigned tasks. It has provided strategic advice to enable the Politburo and the Secretariat to direct the implementation of a range of key policy initiatives that lay the foundation for the country's socio-economic development and support the target of achieving double-digit economic growth in 2026.
To build on these achievements, Politburo member Nguyen Thanh Nghi called on the Commission's leadership, officials, civil servants, public employees and staff to continue demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility, fostering unity, upholding working principles, and implementing all professional and organisational tasks in a comprehensive and coordinated manner to successfully accomplish all assigned duties.
He also urged the Commission to further improve the quality of strategic research and policy advisory work, while proactively strengthening coordination with relevant agencies to effectively fulfil assigned tasks. Greater efforts should be made to communicate and disseminate the Party's guidelines and policies on socio-economic development.
The Commission should continue to innovate research methodologies and the organisation of task implementation, with particular emphasis on accelerating digital transformation and administrative reform; effectively advance external relations and international cooperation; and undertake scientific research projects and policy studies that contribute to the successful implementation of the tasks assigned by the Politburo, while continuing to strengthen Party building.
