Quang Nam: Disaster-hit victims to receive new houses

On December 22, construction commenced on a resettlement area for flood victims whose houses collapsed during the recent flooding and landslide in Tra Leng Commune, Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam Province.

Accordingly, 51 households who lost their homes during the disasters in Tra Leng will have new houses built on the 6ha land plot in Village 2, Tra Don Commune (the area bordering the two communes of Tra Don and Tra Leng).

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tra My District Tran Van Man said that the authorities will allocate 80 plots of land (each plot covers an area of 200m2). In the immediate future, the district will build houses for 51 households in Village 1 and Village 2 in Tra Leng Commune, with a budget of VND150 million per house sourced from the State and the province’s budgets as well as donations from sponsors.

Along with housing construction, Nam Tra My District will continue to invest in essential infrastructure items for local people to soon stabilise their lives.

It is expected that the construction of houses for 51 households there will be completed and presented to local people before the 2021 Lunar New Year.

On the same day, Power Generation Corporation 1 and Song Tranh Hydropower Company awarded 100 sets of desktop computers to 10 primary and secondary schools in Quang Nam Province, with a total cost of VND1 billion.

The activity aimed at joining hands to support the central region affected by natural disasters in 2020, as well as to mark the 66th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam electricity industry and implementing the annual programme "Month of gratitude to customers" of Vietnam Electricity.

Also on December 22, the VinaCapital Foundation in coordination with the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the "Paving the way to the future" scholarship programme presented 225 scholarships to ethnic pupils and students at Le Thi Hong Gam Primary School, Le Hong Phong Secondary School and Le Huu Trac High School in Cu M'gar District, Dak Lak Province, and students from Tay Nguyen University.

Through the programme "Clean water for children", the VinaCapital Foundation also donated three water filtration systems to students, teachers and staff of the three schools.
