More than 120 delegates, who are representatives from local departments, agencies, localities, and travel/transport and service businesses of Thai Nguyen and Hanoi, experienced the piloted route, giving opinions on development of Thai Nguyen tourism and railway tourism.

Nguyen Van Ngoc, Director of the Thai Nguyen provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that initiative to develop the tourism train was introduced two months ago. The pilot railway route stops at four stations: Pho Yen, Luu Xa, Thai Nguyen and Quan Trieu.

The route spans approximately 80 km, with a travel time of about two hours. Additionally, this railway line connects various tourist destinations and supports tourism activities as well as socio-economic development initiatives throughout Thai Nguyen province.

Nguyen Chinh Nam, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, said that the corporation highly appreciates the initiative and determination of Thai Nguyen province in reopening and developing the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen railway route.

Operating the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen tourism train is a new idea, promising significant contributions to the development of Thai Nguyen’s tourism sector and enhancing Vietnam Railways’ services, he said.

As part of the survey programme for the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen tourism train, the delegation experienced various services on the train, such as enjoying Thai Nguyen tea, Hanoi specialty cakes, listening to Then singing with Tinh musical instrument, and exploring One Commune-One Product (OCOP) products and local agricultural goods at destination stations.

Following the train journey, the delegates visited the community tourism site in the specialty tea region of Tan Cuong and participated in a discussion to provide feedback on refining the idea of leveraging the train route to promote tea culture and develop tourism in Thai Nguyen.
