An overview of the ceremony

This event is of profound political and social significance, demonstrating the gratitude of the Party, state, and people towards the outstanding sons and daughters who bravely sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Speaking at the ceremony, Le Quoc Phong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasised that the Saigon-Gia Dinh Special Force was a particularly elite revolutionary force in the South, operating deep within enemy territory.

With courage, unwavering determination, and strict discipline, these special force soldiers achieved silent but strategically significant victories. The pinnacle of this courage and loyalty was clearly demonstrated during the Tet Offensive and Uprising of 1968.

In extremely harsh circumstances, many soldiers accepted sacrifice, maintaining their integrity, protecting the organisation’s secrets, and contributing to a decisive turning point towards the victory of the Vietnamese revolution.

The event was a profound expression of gratitude to the heroic martyrs, a sacred reminder of the responsibility of present and future generations in preserving and nurturing the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary ideals, and the spirit of dedication for the benefit of the Fatherland and the people.
