‘Return to Truong Son’ cycling tourney attracts 65 racers

Nhan Dan – Sixty five racers representing 12 domestic teams and an international CNN team will take part in the ‘Return to Truong Son – 2012’ Cycling Tournament – People’s Army Newspaper Cup from July 15 to 20, as announced at a press conference in Hanoi yesterday.

The cyclists will race in six stages, beginning at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on July 15, running through Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces and the Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery, and finishing at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel on July 20.

The overall yellow jersey winner will be awarded VND20 million (US$960) in cash, while the top team will receive VND30 million (US$1,440).

The six-day tournament, held jointly by the People’s Army Newspaper, the Vietnam Motor-Bicycle Sports Federation and the Vietnam Trade and Industry Bank, commemorates the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
