Former Party and State leaders, scientists and Con Dao political prisoners contributed 54 speeches highlighting the escape’s significance and the experiences learnt which have become lessons for younger generations on the subject of patriotism, revolutionary ideals, undefeatable spirit and the unchallengeable virtues of revolutionaries.

The gathering discussed ways to promote those lessons in peaceful society when the country is pushing forward the study of President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples and implementing the Party’s resolution on party building.

60 years ago, a party committee on Con Dao island, led political prisoners arrested and jailed by French colonists in an uprising to rob weapons and escape. Though the escape failed, it bore the ingrained revolutionary heroism and indomitable spirit of communists.
