Sapa Summer Festival 2023 kicks off

The People’s Committee of Sa Pa Township opened the Sa Pa Summer Festival 2023 on March 3 in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, with the participation of large numbers of local people and domestic and foreign tourists.

The special art programme is part of a series of events to celebrate "120th anniversary of Sapa tourism", with the participation of famous artists and artisans in the Northwest region, who created a vibrant atmosphere, attracting tourists in Sa Pa National Tourist Area.

Accordingly, from the beginning of March until June 2023, there will be many interesting activities and events such as: the opening ceremony, Mau Son Temple Festival, Love Festival, Rose Festival, Street Festival 'Dream of Sa Pa', and the 'Sa Pa in the pouring water season' running tournament.

In particular, the highlight is "Sa Pa Ethnic Culture Festival" in mid-April. This is the first programme held, recreating the unique culture of five local ethnic groups.

According to To Ngoc Lien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa Town, 'Sapa Summer Festival' is part of a series of programmes and events to celebrate "120th anniversary of Sapa tourism", which will last until the end of December 31, 2023, with many rich and attractive activities spread across the tourist spots in Sa Pa Town, within the framework of the town's annual "Five Seasons Festival". As such, the event is helping to create attractive tourism products, attracting tourists to Sapa - the city in the fog.

According to Hoang Thi Vuong, Head of Culture and Information Department of Sa Pa Town, from the beginning of the year until now, Sa Pa Town has welcomed more than 534,000 visitors, triple the figure from the same period in 2022. Total revenue from tourism reached more than 1,800 billion VND, an increase of 3.2 times over the same period in 2022. In 2023, Sa Pa Town has set the target of 3.5 million visitors and 13,000 billion VND in revenue from tourism in the locality.
