This was the main content discussed at the seminar titled “Application of information technology solutions to promote digital transformation for tourism businesses" which was held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi on August 17.

The event attracted the participation of nearly 100 business delegates from many fields, including tourism, travel, transportation, aviation, hotel, telecommunications, and international business.

The seminar aims help the Vietnamese business community apply smart tourism development, increase connectivity to build a sustainable ecosystem, and implement the policy of the Politburo’s Resolution 08-NQ/TW, dated January 16, 2017, on developing tourism into a key economic sector.

Accordingly, the speakers and experts shared practical experiences to promote digital transformation, a key task for the tourism industry in the coming time.

Attending experts and speakers affirmed that the digital transformation process in the tourism industry must be considered as a revolution in terms of thinking.

Therefore, travel companies need to design better, more efficient, and safer tourism products and services; promptly adjust and support customers to get the best experience in accessing tourism products and services directly from new approaches through electronic trading platforms, social networks, and digital transactions.

Experts also recommended several solutions for businesses in the near future, such as organizing a unified database, establishing centralised management, and building big data, along with strengthening close cooperation between units in the tourism industry and the information technology industry to design technology models to meet the needs of digital tourism business and management.
