The programme was organised in both online and face-to-face form, with the participation of Senior Labour Officials of ASEAN member countries, the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, and representatives of partners and businesses in ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Van Thanh shared that the emergence of a technology-based economy has opened opportunities for workers, allowing them to be proactive and flexible in their choice of work.

However, these new types of jobs also have a great impact on ensuring social security and employees' ability to join organisations and bargain collectively. These new issues need to be adjusted by policies and regulations on labour and employment to be able to solve social security issues as well as ensure legitimate rights and interests related to employment.

At the workshop, the MoLISA released a research assessment report on "Management of the impact of technology on work, workers and employment relationships in ASEAN.".

The report, developed by experts from JustJobs Network, presents an overview of the changing technology landscape of the ASEAN labour market.

The document also provides information and statistics on economic, demographic and employment trends in ASEAN; global employment and technology trends in ASEAN; economic background and obstacles of the new policy; and the legal and policy framework to adapt to the inevitable changes of employment in the 21st century. Thereby, it provides future orientation.

Within the framework of the workshop, the delegates shared the contents of the report. This is an opportunity for representatives of labour channels of ASEAN member countries and international agencies and organisations to review the research results. At the same time, the delegates also have a chance to share their own perspectives on what technological developments it will bring and the changes in the employment relationship.
