Party and State leaders meet Dien Bien Phu veterans and volunteers

A meeting between Party and State leaders and veterans and former young volunteers who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign took place in Hanoi on April 23.

The event was attended by Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Permanent member of the Secretariat cum Head of the Central Organisation Commission Truong Thi Mai, Minister of Defence Phan Van Giang, Head of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu and Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung.

In her speech, Mai expressed her deep gratitude to veterans, former young volunteers and frontline porters for their immense contributions to the victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

She noted that the Dien Bien Phu Victory holds great significance as it opened a new revolutionary period, taking the north on the path of building socialism and acting as a firm home front for the cause of liberating the south and reunifying the country.

The Party official expressed her confidence that veterans and former young volunteers would continue making contributions to national construction while spreading the patriotic spirit to younger generations.

On behalf of those participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Major General Nguyen Tu expressed his honour and pride in witnessing the country’s development.

He promised that they would uphold the qualities of a revolutionary soldier and set good examples for younger generations to follow.
