At the event, Minister Luan praised the highly proactive stance of the Coast Guard, expressing his hope that the force would uphold their courage and determination, to overcome difficulties and promote solidarity in realising assigned tasks.

The branch of education and training has deployed a series of activities, which aimed to consolidate teachers' and students’ patriotism and raise their awareness of the country’s sovereignty over its sea, according to the minister.

Major General Nguyen Quang Dam, commander of Coast Guard forces thanked MoET for its support.

Major General Dam said that over the past two months, Vietnamese Coast Guard and other forces always stood firm, no matter how harsh the situation, to fight against China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 within Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

Vietnamese Coast Guard forces will continue to co-ordinate with other forces in protecting the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands, Major General Dam said.
