90th anniversary of Vietnam’s Trade Union marked

The Hanoi Labour Federation held a meeting in Hanoi on July 22 to mark the 90th founding anniversary of Vietnam’s Trade Union (July 28) and honour 90 excellent heads of grassroots trade unions.

Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai asked the federation to continue to focus on improving the efficiency of representation for members of trade union organisations, and protecting interests of bettering living standards for their members and workers.

Trade union staff should also continue reforming and improving operational methods and efficiency to suit the current situation and the city’s development, he noted.

He also highlighted the need to promote the development of the labour market, prevent workplace accidents and care for the material and spiritual lives of employees.

Authorities and trade unions were also asked to improve their efficiency in settling pressing issues that relate directly to labourers, he added.

Also on July 22, the Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Group held a gathering to honour 90 excellent heads of trade units.

The event aimed to praise outstanding individuals who organised creative activities in business and production.
