Further aid packages presented to flood-hit residents in Thua Thien Hue

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man and Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented aid packages to the authorities of Thua Thien Hue Province on November 30, to help the local people in overcoming the consequences of recent storms and floods.

VFF President Tran Thanh Man extended his sympathies over storm-triggered losses to the provincial authorities and residents, as the flooding has left 31 dead and 11 others missing.

He noted that the Prime Minister has decided to allocate 15,500 tonnes of rice to central and Central Highlands region, and prompt actions have been taken to help people in flood-hit areas to surmount the difficulties and stabilise their lives.

He handed over 2 billion VND to support the local residents along with 10 gift packages, worth VND1 million each, to 10 poor households in Hue City.

Meanwhile, Vice President Thinh presented 1 billion VND from the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to orphans and disadvantaged children in the province.

She also delivered aid packages worth a total of VND325 million, which was raised by domestic businesses, to flood-hit households and five families of soldiers who died while carrying out search and rescue operations at the province’s Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant.

According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho, Thua Thien-Hue has reported total losses of over VND1.5 trillion due to storms and floods since this September.

The local authorities have taken a wide range of measures to help locals stabilise their lives and resume production activities following the continuous storms.
