Sports festival strengthens unity among Vietnamese in Korea

The Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Jeollabuk Province held a sports festival on September 14 in Gimje, with about 200 participants from across the province.

Featuring various sports such as football, badminton, table tennis, and folk games, the festival aimed to strengthen community bonds and showcase Vietnamese culture to Korean friends.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Vu Ho highly valued the efforts of the Vietnamese community in Jeollabuk for organising the festival and thanked local authorities for supporting them.

He expressed his hope that similar community sports events will continue to be held to further strengthen unity among the Vietnamese community in Korea.

On the occasion, the embassy staff offered advice and answered various questions on procedures related to passports, nationality, marriage, and citizen protection, helping to address difficulties faced by Vietnamese people studying, working, and living in the East Asian country.

For his part, Gimje Mayor Jeong Seong-ju expressed his delight at the Vietnamese community’s growing integration into local society and affirmed that the city would continue facilitating the sustainable development of the Vietnamese community, while contributing to the Viet Nam-RoK friendship.

Jeollabuk Province is currently home to nearly 15,000 Vietnamese people.
