The event, organised by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, offers a chance for Vietnamese youth abroad to learn about the nation’s sovereignty and patriotic traditions.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son said the camp would help promote patriotism and allegiance to the country among Overseas Vietnamese.
Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Party Committee Do Thi Hoang said she expected young Vietnamese people abroad to strengthen unity with domestic youth and continue a heroic tradition during national construction and defence.
At the opening ceremony, Vietnamese students from abroad joined local students in an arts performance featuring songs and dances expressing the love for the country and people of Vietnam, particularly for Vietnamese waters and airspace.
Earlier, participants visited President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, as well as scenic and cultural sites in Quang Ninh province.
