Fifty years after being honoured with the name of President Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh City has become not only the country’s economic engine but also one of Viet Nam’s major cultural centres, attracting artistic talent from across the nation to build careers, produce creative work and contribute to this dynamic metropolis.

At the recent scientific conference titled “Cultural industry development in the digital era” in Ho Chi Minh City, cinema was identified as one of the most promising sectors within Viet Nam’s cultural industries.

The documents of the 14th National Party Congress emphasise the task of vigorously developing the cultural industry and cultural services to better meet the people’s demand for cultural enjoyment, affirming that investment in culture is investment in the sustainable development of the country and the future of the nation.

Viet Nam has launched the Viet Nam Cultural Industry Development Association (VCIDA), a new body tasked with driving the country’s cultural industries into becoming a key economic sector in the digital era.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong presented a certificate of merit to Ly Xuong Can, Viet Nam’s Tourism Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK), honouring his contributions to promoting tourism, cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries during 2017-2024.

The Viet Nam Cultural Industry Development Association (VCIDA) made its debut with the holding of its first congress for the 2025-2030 tenure on the afternoon of July 11.
