The association was officially introduced at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on September 13 under the theme “Viet Nam’s cultural industry – Soft power in the digital era”.
The event included speeches, the screening of a video on development strategies, and the signing of strategic cooperation agreements with domestic and international partners.
According to VCIDA leaders, the association will act as a hub connecting government agencies, businesses, artists and the creative community. Its mission is to promote cultural industries as a spearhead sector during Viet Nam’s digital transformation and global integration, while helping Vietnamese cultural products reach wider audiences at home and abroad.
The Ministry of Home Affairs approved the establishment of VCIDA in May 2025. The association aims to create a favourable environment for creativity, attract investment and international cooperation, and enhance Viet Nam’s cultural presence on the global stage.
VCIDA has set ambitious targets, including contributing 7% of GDP by 2030 and making Viet Nam an attractive destination for investors, artists and international tourists.
Association representatives stressed that the development of cultural industries is not only an economic priority but also a way to strengthen Viet Nam’s soft power and international image.
