Tien Minh clinches ninth national badminton title

Nhan Dan – Vietnam’s top badminton player, Nguyen Tien Minh, won the tournament title after easily defeating rival Le Ha Anh 2-0 at the Yonex – Sunrise National Individual Badminton Championships, that ended on September 18.

Minh won his ninth national title, and eighth consecutive title, after smashing the player from Hanoi 21-13 21-16 in the 25-minute men’s singles final.

In the women’s singles final, Vu Thi Trang from Bac Giang came back from behind to defeat Phung Ngoc Phuong Nhi from Ho Chi Minh City 23-21 21-14 after losing 12-21 in the first set.

In other events, Bac Giang’s Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen won the women’s doubles while Duong Bao Duc and Nguyen Hoang Nam from Ho Chi Minh City took the men’s doubles title.

Duong Bao Duc and Thai Thi Hong Gam from Ho Chi Minh City secured the mixed doubles title..

The Yonex – Sunrise National Individual Badminton Championships, which took place from September 14 – 18 in Thai Nguyen province, drew the participation of 84 players competing in men’s and women’s singles, and doubles, and mixed doubles events.
