All tiredness during the long journey disappeared when we breathed in the fresh air of in the wild mountain forest space, received the the local people’s hospitality and enjoyed the flavours of the delicious meals.
Tram Tau is home to an abundant source of natural hot mineral water that is good for health. However, it was not until the last few years that local tourism has further developed with the birth of many accommodations, tours, and promotional programmes.
Previously, I had the opportunity to experience Tram Tau hot mineral spring after my adventure trip to conquer the 2,979metre- high Ta Chi Nhu mountain peak in Xa Ho Commune, Tram Tau District, Yen Bai Province.
This time, we stayed at Tram Tau Hot Spring, the first and most famous homestay with a prime location in a small valley overlooking terraced fields.
The facility’s outdoor hot spring pool system covers over 600 square meters wide, including pools with average temperatures ranging between 38 and 42 degrees Celsius. Visitors can soak in the hot water while admiring the picturesque mountain scenery.
In the evening, we gathered in a stilt house to enjoy the performances of the local art troupe, then sat under the sky to watch the stars and chat until late at night.

Although Tram Tau does not have luxury hotels, local homestays such as Doi Che, Xoe, Zoni, and Heaven Hill, of which designs are inspired by the stilt houses of the local Mong and Thai ethnic groups, can provide visitors with the most leisurely experience.
The expansive mountains and hills, the endless terraced fields, the beautiful villages hidden in the sea of clouds, the bustling folk songs and dances, and the superb local cuisine have brought great advantages for local people to develop community-based tourism and cultural tourism, thus attracting numerous domestic and international visitors to Tram Tau.
As hot water is available all year round, Tram Tau welcomes visitors any time of the year. Autumn is considered the greatest time to visit Tram Tau as it allows holidaymakers to admire the stunning golden ripe rice fields while bathing in mineral springs.
From Tram Tau, visitors can also find many interesting activities and places in Yen Bai Province such as trekking, paragliding, hunting clouds or taking photos of the pouring water season.
