While visiting Nhan Dan Newspaper's traditional house, where he watched a documentary on the history and development of the newspaper, US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper hailed that Nhan Dan Newspaper has always played an important position regarding important events in Vietnam throughout the past 70 years.
At the reception, Le Quoc Minh, who is also a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Head of the PCC's Commission for Communications and Education and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association, briefed the guests on Nhan Dan Newspaper - the most important press agencies in Vietnam, as it is the voice of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
Nhan Dan Newspaper has established representative offices in six countries, including France, Russia, China, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. The newspaper has also developed a full range of media, from printed and online newspapers to television to radio.
In addition to the Vietnamese version, Nhan Dan Online is also available in five foreign languages, namely English, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.

Responding to Ambassador Knapper's questions about the decline of printed newspapers throughout the world and the fact that many online newspapers have started implementing paywalls on their websites as a way to increase revenue, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh affirmed that printed newspaper is still the key publication of Nhan Dan Newspaper, adding that the newspaper has promoted the popularisation of content on modern platforms, such as online newspapers, television, and social networks.
He reiterated the important role of digital transformation in the development trend of modern journalism.
He noted that most young readers today are interested in using technology, reporting that survey results show that up to 70% of Nhan Dan Online readers are aged under 35 years.
Given the situation, Nhan Dan's reporters have utilised digital platforms to attract more young viewers.
As Vietnam and the US will observe the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive partnership in 2023, both host and guest agreed that Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and the US Embassy in Vietnam, can jointly hold programmes to celebrate the occasion as well as activities to deepen the bilateral relations.
They agreed that the two sides will coordinate promoting information on the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership, and provide training for Vietnamese journalists on issues such as climate change, environmental protection, and digital transformation.
