[Video] Potential of carbon credit trading in forestry sector

Viet Nam’s forestry sector is shifting from traditional timber exploitation to a promising carbon economy. Forests now act as major carbon sinks, generating carbon credits that can be sold to international organisations and businesses seeking to offset emissions.

Forestry carbon credits are created through activities such as forest protection, restoration and sustainable forest management. They are becoming an important financial resource, turning forests into valuable economic assets.

Through stronger forest protection and sustainable planting efforts, Viet Nam successfully transferred 10.3 million tonnes of CO2 in the North Central region, earning 51.5 million USD from the World Bank.
