Viet Nam, France boost cooperation in building Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum

The seminar themed “Vietnamese–French experts on cooperation in researching and collecting historical materials and developing human resources for the Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum” helped both sides agree on cooperation orientations for the construction of the Museum towards the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (1930–2030).

Overview of the seminar

During the seminar held recently by the Administration Department under the Office of the Party Central Committee in coordination with the French Embassy in Viet Nam, in both in-person and online formats with the French side, both sides noted that the development of a system of documents, artefacts and exhibition content for the Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum is of special importance, not only serving research and traditional education, but also helping to vividly and authentically recreate the Party’s 100-year history.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation among experts in history, museology and archival science, focusing on researching, collecting and exploiting sources of documents and artefacts currently stored in France and other countries, in order to supplement new materials and enhance the value and completeness of the Museum’s exhibition content.

Alongside documentation work, the two sides agreed to implement cooperation in training and fostering human resources for the Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum according to a structured roadmap, combining domestic training and training in France, with a view to building a team of museum and archival experts with high professional capacity to meet long-term development requirements.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the two sides agreed to establish a joint Vietnamese–French advisory expert group. The group will meet monthly to discuss specific matters requiring consultation for the Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum, with minutes recorded after each meeting.

The two sides proposed both long-term and short-term cooperation in training and developing human resources for the Museum through programmes conducted both online and in person. Accordingly, the Vietnamese side will send personnel to France for training, while the French side will send experts to Viet Nam to provide training; courses will be organised in multiple phases, sessions and specialised fields.

France is also requested to support training, capacity building, experience exchange, knowledge and technology updates, and the enhancement of professional expertise in museology and archival science for the Museum’s staff at selected museums, archival centres and universities in France.

Both sides affirmed their determination to promote practical, well-structured cooperation with a clear roadmap, contributing to building the exhibition content system of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Museum into a hallmark project of historical and international significance, with the goal of inaugurating the Museum and opening it to visitors on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam on February 3, 2030.
