Known as Hainan Expo, this is the first large-scale international trade fair held by China after the second-largest economy lifted its COVID-19 restrictions.

The event, which opened on April 10, saw the attendance of Chinese officials, representatives of international organisations and enterprises from 65 countries and territories around the world.

The Vietnamese delegation includes 20 large enterprises in trade and consumer products.

According to the organisers, this year’s expo is the largest-ever event, featuring a total exhibition area of 120,000 square metres, up 20% from last year.

It is expected that leaders of nearly 30 of the world’s top 500 enterprises will directly attend the expo, while the number of visitors is predicted to reach over 300,000.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Minister Dien stated that economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China has been growing rapidly and recorded important results, despite the impact of COVID-19.

For years, China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner, while Vietnam is China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and its sixth largest in the world.

According to the Vietnamese official, the expo will help maintain and strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the countries throughout the region and the world.

The Vietnamese section at the Hainan Expo has an area of 108 square metres, displaying Vietnamese tropical fruits, premium foods, ceramics and healthcare products.

Within the framework of the expo, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Hainan government jointly held a trade and investment conference between Vietnam and China’s Hainan Province.
