The expo drew the participation of more than 500 domestic and foreign enterprises, from 16 countries and territories, with 600 booths.

The booths introduce national brands, exports, electronics, machines, and other products, in the fields of digital technology, e-commerce and the food industry, among others.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai reviewed the national economic recovery and development last year, with the gross domestic product (GRP) growing 8.02%, the highest since 2011, industrial production expanded significantly, and export-import hitting a record of 730.28 billion USD.

In the first two months of this year, the export-import was valued at nearly a billion USD, the official said, adding that although the figure represents a year-on-year drop, it reflects efforts by all-level agencies and the business community.

He attributed the outcomes to significant contributions of trade promotion activities, with the rollout of incentives and solutions, to ensure goods circulation and boost export-import.

Since its inception in 1991, Vietnam Expo has brought about economic values and practical opportunities to domestic enterprises, helping them enhance export, promote the domestic market and improve their capacity for engaging in the global value chain while contributing to fulling the Government’s commitment to international economic integration, Hai stressed.

Participating firms will maintain interaction with visitors, not only during the four days of the expo but also throughout the year, via a business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform.

Organisers said many international delegations and organisations and foreigners from more than 60 countries and territories, have registered to visit the event, of which the delegations from Slovakia and China will hold trade exchanges with businesses.

The expo is expected to offer organisations and businesses opportunities to enhance the exchange of experiences, promote their products, seize investment opportunities, and transfer technologies to improve efficiency in production and business.

Other seminars to boost efficiency in investment and trade promotion, in both domestic and foreign markets, will also be held.

Vietnam Expo is held annually in Hanoi in April and in Ho Chi Minh City in December.
