The ambassador highlighted the significant contributions of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the country’s success as ASEAN Chair in 2024 and its role in the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45). These achievements, he noted, have enhanced Laos’ regional and international stature.

He expressed his joy with the increasingly consolidated and deepened Vietnam-Laos special relationship, particularly in the economic sector.

He hoped that Phomvihane, in his new position, will continue to guide relevant agencies to support the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos to perform its duties well.

For his part, Phomvihane expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for always providing the Party, State and people of Laos with assistance in all areas. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the ambassador and the embassy to ensure the effective implementation of high-level agreements and strategic cooperation projects between the countries, increase the connection between the two economies; and promote cooperation between ministries, agencies and localities.

Earlier on November 25, Ambassador Tam went to extend greetings to Bounlua Phandanouvong, acting head of the LPRP’s Commission for External Relations, on the occasion of Laos' National Day.

Tam acknowledged the commission’s vital contributions to the Vietnam-Laos ties.

He expressed his hope for continued collaboration between the commission and the Vietnamese Embassy to advance high-level agreements reached by the two countries' seniors leaders, organise future visits, and facilitate thematic research and exchanges.

Phandanouvong thanked the Vietnamese Party, State and people for always providing sincere, effective and timely assistance for the Lao Party, State and people in the past struggle for national liberation and the current development process of the country, especially in the field of human resources training and development. He affirmed continued cooperation with the Central Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and related agencies to implement the agreements reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties and countries.

Meanwhile in Malaysia, Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh and a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and other representative offices on November 29 visited the Lao Embassy in the country on the occasion of Laos’ 49th National Day.

During the meeting, Lao Ambassador Thepthavone expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s solidarity and support, especially during Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship year in 2024. He expressed his hope for continued strengthening of the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Ambassador Linh reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to close cooperation with Laos, particularly within the ASEAN framework, to contribute to building a cohesive, prosperous, and sustainable regional community.

The two ambassadors also discussed regional and international issues, noting that Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 will feature dynamic diplomatic activities. They affirmed that Vietnam and Laos will work closely together in upcoming ASEAN high-level meetings, starting with the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Langkawi.
