Vietnam earns seven gold at Asian Bodybuilding Championships

Nhan Dan – Vietnam has bagged seven gold, four silver and one bronze medal after four days of competition at the 2014 Asian Bodybuilding Championships held in Macau (China).

Vietnam's bodybuilding team delivered a sweet start to the tournament, snatching three gold medals on the first day of competition. SEA Games champion, Nguyen Van Lam polished his medal collection by finishing supreme in the men’s 65kg weight class, while his teammate Dinh Kim Loan was crowned women’s 49kg champion. The third gold medal went to Tran Thi Cam Tu in the women’s under 1.55m fitness discipline.

Bodybuilder Le Hoai Thuong also earned a gold medal in the classic bodybuilding contest for athletes under 1.6 metres tall, while his teammate Tran Thi Cam Tu bagged a gold medal in the women’s classic bodybuilding contest for athletes under 1.6 metres tall on the second day of competition.

On the final day of competition, two gold medals went to bodybuilder Tran Huu Duc and Nguyen Minh Tien in the men’s classic bodybuilding contest for athletes under 1.7 metres and athletes under 1.75 metres, respective.

Ton Hoang Khanh Lan, Lam Thuy Mi, Pham Van Mach and Nguyen Kim Hung each won a silver medal in their events, while Tach Ngoc Dinh earned a bronze medal in the men’s classic bodybuilding contest for athletes under 1.65 metres.

The tournament took place from August 29 to September 1 with the participation of about 300 bodybuilders from 19 countries and territories across Asia.
