Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2022 winners announced

Three players Nguyen Van Quyet, Huynh Nhu and Ho Van Y were honoured and received the 2022 Vietnam Golden Ball award in the category of male football, female football and futsal, at a ceremony held at the Ben Thanh Theater, in Ho Chi Minh City, on February 25.

Co-organised by the Saigon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation, the ceremony featured the participation of leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the city's Department of Culture and Sports and a large number of leaders and coaches, players of clubs, sponsors, national sports journalists and football fans.

The poll was organized by the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, from nominations and votes of leading football experts and sports journalists throughout the country, over the past two months.

This is the second time striker Nguyen Van Quyet from Hanoi FC club, has received the Vietnam Golden Ball title in the category of male football. Last season, Van Quyet made important contributions to the achievement of winning the V.League 1 championship, the National Cup and the National Super Cup of Hanoi FC.

The Silver and Bronze Ball awards went to striker Nguyen Tien Linh of Becamex Binh Duong F.C and central midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc of Viettel F.C.

Meanwhile, striker Huynh Nhu from the Lank FC in Portugal, was honoured with the Vietnam Golden Ball award in the female football category, for her outstanding performance with the national women's football team. She has gone down in history as the first female player to win five Golden Ball Awards in her career.

Tran Thi Thuy Trang and Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy of Ho Chi Minh FC, received the Silver and Bronze Ball awards, respectively.

In the Futsal Golden Ball category, the goalkeeper and midfielder of Thai Son Nam FC, Ho Van Y and Chau Doan Phat, scooped the Golden Ball and Bronze Ball awards respectively. Midfielder of Sahaco FC Khong Dinh Hung got the Silver Ball award.

In addition, the organization board also presented the Best Foreign Football Player Award to Rimario AllandoGordon of Hanoi FC and the Best Young Male Footballer Award and the Best Young Female Footballer Award, to striker Khuat Van Khang of Viettel FC and Vu Thi Hoa of Hanoi FC.
