Vietnam- Laos trade turnover reaches over 1.22 billion in nine months

Trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos hit over 1.2 billion USD in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 29% compared to the same period last year.

Of this, Vietnamese exports to Laos were valued at 465.7 million USD, up 4.1% year-on-year, while its imports from Laos reached 755.8 million USD, a rise of 51.3% year-on-year.

The main exports of Vietnam to Laos include vegetables, tubers and fruits, worth 44.8 million USD, up sharply by 230%; petrol and oil of all kinds (52.4 million USD, up 268%); fertilizers of all kinds (26.5 million USD, up 53.4%); other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts (45.5 million USD, up 14.9%).

The total trade turnover between the two countries is expected to hit 1.6 billion USD this year, an increase of 20% against last year’s figure, fulfilling the target set by their leaders at the 44th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation.
