Vietnam sends new ambassador to Palestine

Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt and Palestine Nguyen Huy Dung presented his credentials to Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas in an online ceremony held at the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo on June 25.

  • Expressing his honour to become the Vietnamese Ambassador to Palestine, Ambassador Dung pledged to work hard to contribute to reinforcing and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine.

He extended the regards of President Vo Van Thuong and senior leaders of Vietnam to President Mahmoud Abbas, and briefed the Palestinian President on socio-economic achievements as well as outstanding results that Vietnam has gained over more than 35 years implementing the “Doi moi” (Renewal) scheme.

The diplomat affirmed that Vietnam always supports the just cause as well as efforts to promote peace and development of Palestinian people.

President Mahmoud Abbas highlighted the strong friendship between the two countries, and showed his admiration for Vietnam's development achievements and wish to further develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam.

On behalf of President Abbas, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab Allouh received the credentials from Ambassador Dung.

Vietnam recognised the Palestine State and set up diplomatic relations with Palestine on November 19, 1988.
