The week-long event expects to see exciting competitions among eight strong volleyball clubs from Thailand, Kazakhstan, Taiwan (China), China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan, Iran and the host Vietnam.
Vietnam is placed in Group A along with Thailand, Kazakhstan and Taiwan, while the remaining four teams belong to Group B.
The group members will battle it out in a round robin format for slots in the knockout round. The overall champions will have a chance to represent Asia at the upcoming 2013 World Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in the Switzerland.
Vietnam’s Lien Viet Post Bank got off to a good start by beating Idea Khonkaen of Thailand 3-2 in their Group A opener yesterday.
The tournament is held jointly by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee.
