Thuy’s project was among more than 1,960 nominations from nearly 100 countries in 99 different design disciplines.
The entries were carefully evaluated by an internationally influential jury panel grouping of established scholars, prominent press members, creative design professionals and experienced entrepreneurs.
Nguyen Thu Thuy will join other awards’ winner at an awards ceremony scheduled in Como, Italia at the end of June.
Under the Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mirror House Project, Thuy worked with her colleagues from the New Hanoi Art Company to renovate and redecorate the old Mirror House at Hanoi’s Thong Nhat (Reunion) Park with colourful ceramic mosaic murals.
Designed in the shape of a huge snail shell, fifty mirrors are installed along a maze providing interesting and unusual distorted shapes, bringing delight to all the visitors.
Thuy’s designs for the project were inspired from Ha Long Sea in the northern province of Quang Ninh and Truong Sa (Spratly Archipelago)'s waves.
The project team hoped that the brilliant colors of ceramic mosaic murals and 3D paintings would provide an opportunity for viewers to imagine the beauty of the sea of Vietnam.
