This year’s festival features representatives from various local branches of the Vietnam Musicians Association and artists from provinces and cities across the country.
The event includes two main segments: the introduction of newly composed works in 2023 and 2024 and a showcase of solo performances and vocal talent in the Vietnamese Voices and Instrumental solo competition.
The festival will feature 120 performances from 40 art troupes nationwide. The pieces centre on themes celebrating the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the nation, Vietnam’s seas and islands, rural development achievements, and the land and people of Ninh Binh.
Many compositions incorporate the folk melodies of regional cultures, particularly the traditional music of ethnic minorities.
Major General Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, highlighted that the National Music Festival serves as a platform for musicians, association members, talented soloists, and outstanding vocalists to meet, share creative experiences, and exchange musical ideas.
The event also aims to introduce new music compositions, highlight young talents, and nurture exceptional voices, shaping the future of the musical arts.
Additionally, the festival allows participants to reflect on the value of traditional cultural and artistic heritage, fostering efforts to preserve and promote the unique identities of Vietnam’s ethnic communities while advancing the development of contemporary music rooted in tradition.
The 2024 National Music Festival will run until November 20.
