The National Book Awards is a national award directed by the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education and the Ministry of Information and Communications. The Vietnam Publishing Association and the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution are the agencies directly organising and issuing the awards annually.
The National Book Awards have become an outstanding cultural event attracting the attention of the public, having a strong influence, highly appreciated by the leaders of the Party and State, contributing significantly to bringing books to readers, spreading and multiplying the intellectual values, cultural values in social life, raising the value of each award-winning book commensurate with the expectations of the majority of readers and becoming a valuable spiritual asset in every family and the country.
Based on the voting results at the National Book Awards Council, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, Vietnam Publishing Association has compiled and submitted to the Minister of Information and Communications for consideration to award the 7th National Book Awards in 2024 to 59 sets of books, including three A prizes, 10 B prizes, 21 C prizes, 21 Consolation Awards and four Readers' Favourite Book Awards.
In 2024, 51 out of 57 publishers had books participating in the award. The number of books participating in the 7th National Book Award was 372 titles and book series, including 455 books participating this year.
