During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated the strong and amicable cooperation between Prey Veng province and Viet Nam’s border provinces of Dong Thap and Tay Ninh.
The Ambassador expressed his hope that in the next time, Prey Veng province would continue to foster comprehensive cooperation, particularly in the fields of economic, trade and investment partnerships with Dong Thap and Tay Ninh.
In discussions at the meeting, Governor Suon Somalin emphasised that Prey Veng province enjoys very good cooperative relations with Viet Nam’s bordering provinces, especially in economic and trade collaboration, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Governor Suon Somalin expressed his hope that upon its official inauguration, the pair of international border gates at Tan Nam (Tay Ninh)–Meun Chey (Prey Veng) would further boost economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Prey Veng Province and Viet Nam’s border provinces, contributing to the broader goal of enhancing comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cambodia.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu and the working delegation also visited the construction site of the Tan Nam International Border Gate (Tay Ninh).
Through on-site inspection and discussions with representatives at the Tan Nam International Border Gate, the delegation obtained an overview of the current status and progress of various projects. At present, construction works at the Tan Nam International Border Gate are being vigorously implemented. Completion is anticipated soon, with an official inauguration ceremony expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu underscored that the opening of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh)–Meun Chey (Prey Veng) international border gates is receiving significant attention from the Governments of both countries, as it will further promote economic, trade, and people-to-people relations between the two nations. The Ambassador urged all relevant parties to exert their utmost efforts to expedite the construction.
Following the official inauguration, it is anticipated that the volume of goods, people, and vehicles passing through the Tan Nam–Meun Chey border gates will rise sharply, thereby fostering economic, trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between Tay Ninh and Dong Thap provinces of Viet Nam and Prey Veng province of Cambodia in particular, as well as between the border provinces of both countries in general.
