At the event, Consul General Nguyen Van Thanh extended his New Year wishes to the community and informed the guests of Vietnam’s notable achievements in 2022, especially the economic growth rate of 8.02%.

He also briefed the attendants about the situation in Cambodia, which effectively controlled COVID-19, successfully held the election of local councils, and recorded an economic growth rate of 5.5%.

2022 was also selected by the two countries’ leaders as the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, with a wide range of meaningful activities held throughout the year.

The diplomat expressed his hope that in 2023 the Vietnamese community in Cambodia will continue to strengthen unity and make efforts to further improve their standards of living.

On the occasion, with support from Metfone, the Consulate General presented 672 gifts worth a total of 10,000 USD to Vietnamese people in seven provinces in the northeastern Cambodia.
