Vietnamese Cultural Day in Budapest highlights cultural identity, enhances people-to-people exchanges

On June 27-28, Vietnamese Cultural Day was co-organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary and the District 3 Government, in Budapest.

The event is among an array of activities celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Hungary

It was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Bui Le Thai, Mayor of District 3 Laszlo Kiss, various associations and cultural organisations, the Vietnamese community in Budapest, and a large number of Hungarians.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasised: “In the context of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, the Vietnamese Cultural Day in District 3 is not only an occasion to honour the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people, it also contributes to enriching the cultural life in Budapest. The event serves as a bridge for cultural exchange, contributing to strengthening the friendship, mutual understanding and connection between the people of Viet Nam and Hungary."

Ambassador Bui Le Thai expressed his gratitude for the active cooperation of the District 3 Government and affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Hungary will continue promoting its role as a bridge of friendship, actively contributing to the development of Hungary as well as to the Viet Nam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership.

Speaking at the event, Mayor of District 3 Laszlo Kiss highly appreciated the initiative to organise the Vietnamese Cultural Day in District 3 while affirming that the leaders of the District 3 Government both fully support and are ready to accompany the embassy in organising cultural exchange activities of the Vietnamese community in District 3, thereby contributing to enriching the local cultural life, enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and further tightening the friendly relations between the two countries.

Accordingly, the mayor proposed to further deepen the twinning relationship between District 3 and Son Tay Town of Viet Nam. He affirmed that he would continue to create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate more deeply and made contributions to the development of District 3.

The highlight of the event was the exhibition of paintings, photos, and video clips about the 75-year history of relations between Viet Nam and Hungary with many vivid images of visits by leaders of the two countries, about the country and people of Viet Nam, unique cultural heritages and especially the outstanding achievements after more than 40 years of Viet Nam’s Renewal.

In addition, the booth introducing Viet Nam’s agricultural export products such as cashew nuts, pepper, coffee, tea and traditional spices attracted great attention from visitors.

The Vietnamese culinary space with special traditional dishes, along with national art performances, brought unique cultural experiences, contributing to widely promoting the image of the country, people and cuisine of Viet Nam to Hungarian friends.
