Vietnamese-invested firms in Cambodia expand operations

Two Vietnamese-invested firms, MB Cambodia and Viettel (Cambodia) Pte., Ltd. (Metfone), signed a special credit package contract for 2022 on May 4 to upgrade the telecom network in Cambodia, as well as strengthen cooperation between the two enterprises.

MB Cambodia, a branch of Vietnam’s Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, and Metfone, an affiliate of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, have been assessed as leading Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia over the past decade.

Under this contract, MB Cambodia will provide a credit package with a limit of up to 100 million USD for Metfone to upgrade the telecom services network and expand operations in Cambodia.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang described the signing of the contract as an important event since both have gained a foothold in the telecommunications, e-payment, e-wallet, and financial - banking sectors in Cambodia.

This partnership will help to promote Vietnamese firms’ stature in Cambodia, thereby contributing to cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, he noted.
