Vietnamese shooter leads 10m air pistol world rankings

Vietnam’s Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh retained his top position in the latest men’s World 10m air pistol rankings with 2,542 points, the International Shooting Federation (ISSF) announced on July 1.

Since the success achieved at the Rio Olympics 2016, Vinh has constantly defended his leading position in the discipline thanks to his positive achievements reached at recent international shooting events.

Most recently, the Vietnamese star won a gold medal and set a new record in his preferred 10m air pistol category with 238.9 points at the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Shooting Championships in Malaysia on May 9.

Matsuda Tomoyuki of Japan was named no. 2 in the 10m air pistol event with 2,168 points, followed by Olympic silver medalist Wu Felipe Almeida with 1,570 points.

In the 50m slow fire pistol rankings, Hoang Xuan Vinh sits in second place with 1,607 points, behind Jin Jongoh of the Republic of Korea with 2,956 points.

Thanks to his impressive form in recent times, Xuan Vinh remains as one of Vietnam’s biggest hopes for gold at the upcoming 29th SEA Games 2017 in Malaysia.
