The Thailand's decision was just published in the Royal Thai Gazette on the evening of July 15.

Accordingly, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has signed a decision to allow a 60-day visa-free travel period for tourists from Vietnam and 89 other countries as part of measures to promote tourism and encourage longer stays.

Along with the purpose of tourism, people from the specified nations who enter Thailand temporarily for business or short-term work purposes are also exempt from visa requirements.

Guests arriving from visa-exempt countries may also obtain a 30-day extension when necessary. However, their purpose of stay must be different from the first one and this must be accepted by relevant Thai authorities.

The decision on visa-exemption from Thailand is valid as of the date of signing on July 15. Notably, not all ASEAN countries enjoy this status.

Statistics from the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports show that 1,033,688 Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand in 2023, the 7th largest number among countries and territories in the world and the 2nd largest number in ASEAN (after Malaysia).

There are currently a large number of Vietnamese tourists coming to Thailand to travel to this country for many purposes other than traditional tourism, such as discovering new experiences, relaxation, medical treatment, ecology, cultural tourism, history, spirituality, and more.
