On September 14, at the International Village of the 2025 Festival of Humanity held in Brétigny-sur-Orge, 40 km from Paris, Nhan Dan newspaper organised a presentation on Viet Nam, from the historic September 2, 1945 to the great victories in the struggle for independence, freedom, and national reunification, along with outstanding achievements in renovation, development, and international integration.
Attending were Taylan Coskun, member of the Political Bureau of the French Communist Party in charge of relations with Viet Nam; Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang; Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Viet Nam to UNESCO; Vietnamese representative agencies in France; representatives of Humanité newspaper, the Book and Press Publishing Union (SGLCE-CGT); France-Viet Nam associations; and generations of Vietnamese in France.

Speaking at the presentation on Viet Nam, Que Dinh Nguyen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan newspaper, said that this year was truly special for the Vietnamese people, marking the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth, and recently the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Eighty years ago, on September 2, 1945, at historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh – the genius leader, great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, hero of national liberation, exemplary international communist, and close friend of peace- and progress-loving peoples around the world – read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam. This event marked a great turning point in the nation’s history, opening a new era for Viet Nam.

Through the 80-year journey, full of hardships but also glorious, the entire Party and people of Viet Nam have affirmed a truth: under the glorious banner of the Party, with Ho Chi Minh’s guiding light, relying on the people’s strength and the great national unity bloc, there is no difficulty or challenge the Vietnamese people cannot overcome; no noble goal the Vietnamese nation cannot attain.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief Que Dinh Nguyen said: With the great achievements over the past 80 years, the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam always remember the noble international solidarity and wholehearted support of French and international friends. In particular, we have never forgotten and always deeply cherished the solidarity and sincere support of French communists and peace-loving people for Viet Nam’s cause of national liberation, independence, freedom, and reunification. The images of communists, workers, students, and intellectuals in France taking to the streets to oppose the war and demand justice for Viet Nam will forever live in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.
Looking to the future, the Communist Party of Viet Nam sets the goal that by 2045, the 100th anniversary of the country’s founding, Viet Nam will be a strong, prosperous, and happy nation. To achieve that noble goal, Viet Nam very much hopes to continue receiving even more attention, support, and wholehearted, effective assistance from French and international friends in all fields.

On behalf of French communists, Taylan Coskun stated that the 2025 Festival of Humanity was a very meaningful occasion for Viet Nam to present its great achievements over the past 80 years, and also for international friends to express admiration for the courage and role of the country with the great President Ho Chi Minh.
Taylan Coskun said that this year, French communists were delighted to share in the special moments commemorating major historical events of Viet Nam and that this was also an opportunity to honour the noble spirit of international solidarity. On the occasion of the 80th National Day on September 2, Fabien Roussel, National Secretary of the French Communist Party, sent a congratulatory letter to To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, emphasising that this historic event symbolises not only the struggle and sacrifice of the Vietnamese people, but also the shared aspiration of oppressed peoples around the world.

Taylan Coskun said that the great revolutionary cause of President Ho Chi Minh continues to be a source of inspiration and strength for us, always reminding us of the profound historical ties linking the two Parties and the two peoples. We highly value the great achievements of the Vietnamese people, who have overcome terrible challenges, built a rapidly developing country, and assumed an increasingly important role on the international stage. The French Communist Party will continue to stand with Viet Nam in addressing the challenges of the era.
According to Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang, Viet Nam’s participation in each festival always carries profound significance. It is an opportunity to strengthen the close bonds between the communists and peoples of Viet Nam and France. It is also an occasion to highlight the role and contribution of the newspaper Humanité for publishing many important articles that supported and disseminated the revolutionary struggle in the past and Viet Nam’s development today.

Praising the activities of Nhan Dan newspaper at the 2025 Fête de l’Humanité, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang noted that this year’s festival of French communists and workers was a very special occasion for Viet Nam to express gratitude for the great support of the French Communist Party and progressive forces for the struggle for national independence and reunification, as well as for today’s development and international integration.
From the very first day of the festival, numerous French and international friends visited the booth organised by Nhan Dan newspaper at the International Village to learn about the glorious milestones in Viet Nam’s struggle for independence, freedom, reunification, development, and international integration.
Many documents, books, newspapers, and press publications were presented to international friends. The special supplement of Nhan Dan newspaper, issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the April 30 Victory, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth, and the 80th anniversary of the National Day on September 2, attracted great attention for its uniqueness and significance, helping international friends better understand the glorious historical milestones and contributing to fostering patriotism and national pride among generations of Vietnamese in France.

Eighty years after President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at historic Ba Dinh Square, Viet Nam has made great strides and become a dynamic country with an increasingly firm position on the international stage. These were the warm congratulations from international friends at the 2025 Festival of Humanity, not only showing respect but also serving as testimony to their confidence in Viet Nam’s sustainable development future.
The annual festival is not only a political and cultural event for French communists and workers, but also a true festival of friendship and international solidarity.
