The event was attended by Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Johari Bin Abdul, and Deputy President of the Senate Nur Jazlan Bin Tan Sri Mohamed, along with a range of senators, ambassadors from various countries, and nearly 500 guests, including Vietnamese expatriates and international friends.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh highlighted the historical significance of the National Day on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Reflecting on the more than 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Malaysia, Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh expressed his pleasure at the increasingly favourable and effective cooperation prospects between the two countries, affirming that Vietnam views Malaysia as an important partner in ASEAN, and that the close cooperation between the two nations aims for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

For his part, Malaysia's Minister of Home Affairs Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail emphasised that Malaysia considers Vietnam a close friend and is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in exploring and discovering opportunities that benefit the peoples of both countries. On behalf of the Government of Malaysia, Minister Nasution bin Ismail extended congratulations on the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and expressed his hope that this special bilateral relationship will continue to reach new heights.

As part of this year's celebration, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia screened a film about the country and people of Vietnam, highlighting famous heritage sites and scenic spots from north to south, leaving a strong impression on international friends. Ismail bin Hamid, a representative of the Cham community in Malaysia, shared that although he has been away from home for 24 years, he has always followed the country’s development through the media and feels very proud of its strong growth. Many expatriates and international friends also shared their deep feelings about Vietnam's National Day and about the resilient rise of a nation that endured much pain in war but is now affirming its position on the international stage.
